Spike Hill: Conveniently located across the street from the Bedford L station, Spike Hill is an easy spot for Manhat-tanites who are easing into Brooklyn one Friday night at a time. While occasionally overrun by the striped-shirt after-work crowd, what lurks below Spike Hill’s surface is a truly solid neighborhood joint with a huge selection of beers and plenty of big, dark booths to sink into. The Irish breakfast is available all day, but the dinner menu is truly impressive; they’re famous for the fish and chips, while the stately burgers and shepherd’s pie are also winners. Wash any of it down with a hefty bourbon and suddenly Spike Hill seems just as charming as any outpost of the Emerald Isle can be. |
