Southpaw: The only places you would expect to find a spot like Southpaw are LA, Detroit, and of course, Brooklyn. Not only because those are the only cities big enough to hold the oversized warehouse, but because the underground edge has the feel clubbers used to get from the old spots in the Meatpacking District (before it was overrun with dicey, posh clubs). The cats roll in packs to Southpaw, adding the only splashes of color to the drab concrete block. Live music will get the drunkies jumping around in no time, but the enormity of the space allows for plenty of room to crash in the no-frills, no-VIP seating area. Or opt for the bar, where you can turn your back to the surrounding chaos. |
