Sophie's: It’s ironic that Sophie was one of the most popular girls’ names of last year, because the last thing you’ll see in Sophie’s is a family outing. This dive is dark, has no sign, and borders on seedy. Which is exactly why it’s great: no frou frou drinks, no banquettes, and no credit cards accepted. Locals in their 20s and 30s inhabit the small bar on weekdays, but the B&Ts invade on the weekend. Sophie’s has a few tables, a small bar, and a pool table, so it’s a good place to come with a friend or two, as it can’t accommodate many more people than that. Bring a buck to play the kick-ass juke with icons ranging from Miles Davis to the Stones to Johnny Cash to Elvis.
