Smiths: Smith’s Bar is quite possible the last beacon of pre-Disney Times Square left standing. The neon red sign alone screams of a New York long gone. And once inside, the colorful characters that look like they haven’t left since the place opened in 1954 will tell you all about what you’ve missed. A deli/steam table serves traditional bar food starting at 6am and doesn’t shut down ’til 4. In between, bartenders donning shirts and ties serve up $3 pints while a jazz band serenades in the background. The random Milford Plaza guest might find his way inside, but for the most part, this place is home to a slew of regulars, including Broadway performers past and present. |
