Nearly making up for the massive disappointment that was Wakiya, Shang is the latest upscale Chinese restaurant to open in a downtown boutique hotel. Chef Susur Lee is a star in his native Toronto, and now he’s set up shop in the Lower East Side to bring us jaded diners a taste of inspiration from the Great White North. The promising, inventive Chinese cuisine and stylishly minimalist décor of the Thompson LES Hotel have already attracted the cool kids to the table.
