Shades of Green: There’s something simple and nondescript that makes Shades of Green the sort of bar you can go to on any night with any companion. Maybe it’s the photographs of writers on the walls, or the way the vibe teeters on dive while remaining well-kempt. Then again, it could be the large screens airing the big game, or the way the joint is nestled between the busier block of Union Square and Irving Place, but Shades is amicable to the masses. The reasonably priced beer variety and typical pub fare attracts an amicable crowd and the ever-present NYU students never seem to overrun the place, either. You can have a slightly rowdy evening of Irish Car Bombs with old friends or sip a Black and Tan while writing your novel. |
