Serafina: After a short break in March to remodel, downtown’s Serafina is back in business. When Lafayette Street’s mini boom happened a few years ago and Butter, Joe’s Pub, and Pangaea were all the rage, this second-rate bi-level ristorante was inexplicably where the pre-parties happened. Now that its downstairs space is a fantastic wine store, the upstairs area here is all that’s left of this franchise’s downtown Manhattan digs. Hip it’s not, but the dark room with its walls covered in wine racks is serviceable enough, if not a bit nice once you get past the crowd that still reeks of hair gel and the Lincoln Tunnel. |
