Scruffy Duffy’s: Countless street signs decorate the walls here, as does a mounted moose head wearing a fireman’s helmet. But don’t be confused. It’s all about the sports at Scruffy Duffy’s, so ladies take note: You will probably be ignored if you wind up here with your team-obsessed beau. There will always be a game on one of the half-dozen TVs and a promotion to go along with it. Baseball season is especially festive; drinks are on the house when any major league player from Japan hits a home run during what they call “Banzai Baseball.” Locals take unofficial pool tournaments pretty seriously (cues are stored in lockers) so there will always be a wait for a game. You’ll have more luck at the dartboards and at the bar, where a respectable selection of beers await. A few, like Checker Cab Blonde Ale, are locally brewed. |
