One of the city’s top Italian chefs, Scott Conant (L’Impero, Alto) returns with the opening of Scarpetta, taking over the space left by Gin Lane. Let’s hope Conant’s reputation for elegant, masterful food is strong enough to counter the dullness of the MPD. The opening menu includes slow roasted lobster, ricotta raviolini with squash blossoms, and boneless Osso Buco. S. Russell Groves designed the 70-seat dining room featuring a retractable roof and a long mahogany bar, while prime summertime seating will be in a 20-seat café in the front.
