Savalas: For people who say Williamsburg needs another bar like Angelina needs another orphan, Savalas will change your mind. Yes, it’s on the south side of Williamsburg, but no, it’s not gentrification so put down the petition. Everyone here is local through and through, and that means more diversity than Queens always brags about. The long, skinny bar gives way to a few banquettes and a small area where people dance to the DJs, who spin everything from ’80s to booty bass. There’s a high energy about the place combined with a local bar feel that makes it perfect for either after-work drinks or a little drunken ass-shaking. As a bonus, smokers can sit at the few tables out front and watch the hipsters slinking on down toward the L train. |
