Samba-Le: There are usually two things you think of when you hear the word Brazilian, and only one of them has to do with food. But you won’t find hunks of meat on a stick at this new East Village restaurant. The cozy, amber-lit spot encourages its guests to share, featuring a small plate menu lightly inspired by the cuisine of Italy. Sautéed bay scallops are wrapped in pancetta, squash gnocchi are slathered in avocado cream sauce, and the perfect appetizer of banana chips served with a pitcher of sangria ensures that the night starts off right. Round that off with fruit-infused caiparinhas, live music, samba dancing, and a room full of candlelight and this is the closest thing to Carnaval you’ll find. |
