Sake Bar Satsko:
This tiny spot has been adopted by an eclectic group of local East Villagers. However, the doors are by no means locked, with a very welcoming crowd present. There may even be a place left for you on the wall covered with Polaroids of regulars. Red beaded lanterns hang from the ceiling and modern prints decorate the other walls. Sake-tasting nights are the perfect chance for a newbie to get into the swing of things. Bear in mind that there are over 40 sakes to choose from, so “getting into the swing of things” could mean swinging from one of those red lanterns.
This place use to be my favorite hang out in the city, amazing staff, especially Warrren. Your the best man…..Great patrons who would over the years get to know each other over many drunken nights and early mornings. The food was really good, especially the JennyGiri and CarrieGiri. Unfortunately, this place has changed over the years, prices have gone up, and new bartenders are serving the more expensive drinks. But I have heard that the place is working on getting their dedicated patrons back and they are offering happy hour everyday til 8pm and a great $18 prix fix that includes appetizer, salad, entrée and a glass of wine or a beer is offered on Sundays and Mondays. Also make sure to check out Monday’s when the place turns into a “club” with great DJ and a lots of dancing. Go check this place out and help bring back the favorite in my favorite hang out back.
