Sakae Sushi:
CLOSED. Every lazy sushi fan’s space-age dream come true—why wait for your dragon-sized order to be fired when you can instantly select your rolls of choice from a moving conveyor belt? At this Midtown-via-Singapore spot, a merry-go-round of ocean treats on color-coded plates (so you know what the price is) tempt, if not hypnotize, even the pickiest eaters. For those who prefer not to paw for their food like they grab their luggage at the airport, there’s an interactive touch menu at every table for customized orders. The minimalist taupe design helps keep the atmosphere calm even during the weekday lunch rush, but you can always liven things up with a few rounds of sake.
Hmm..I gave Sakae Sushi a try even after reading some sad reviews online, and to my surprise it's actually pretty good. I guess it's also because they have only opened for 1 month, so many kinks have yet been worked out.
I thought their sashimi was really fresh given how much I paid ($6.90 for 6 slices of Salmon). It is a deal if you think abt the selection on the red plates which are supposedly the most expensive plates on the belt. For $6.90, I also got dragon roll and rainbow rolls, which are normally priced at around $10-12 elsewhere. The atmosphere, though not as hip like Sushi Samba or Haru, was apt for kaiten sushi and most importantly, fun. The interactive menu worked, and the service was not too bad either.
Overall, Sakae Sushi is worth the experience! I would go there again. OH, and not to forget, i just found out that if you accumulate $200 worth of receipts in a month, you will become a VIP and is entitled to 10% every visit after. To enjoy a consistent privilege to eat my fav. food (sushi!!!), sounds like something perfectly up my alley!!
