Rudy’s Bar & Grill: Sure, this area is all cleaned up and family-friendly these days, but Rudy’s still reeks of days past. A giant pig statue standing under a red neon sign greets you at the door, kind of an indication of what you will find inside. Grimy tables paired with half-moon-shaped red and ripped vinyl banquettes and barstools are shoved into a too-small place that is constantly crowded. That’s probably due to the dirt-cheap drinks (Miller Lite pitchers are $5, and the house brews, Rudy’s Red and Rudy’s Gold, are $3 a pint), free hot dogs, and blues/rock jukebox selections. Head to the back garden for some salvation from the standing-room-only weekend edition. Word of advice, don’t even try to get a barstool—regulars are of the marathon-drinking variety. |
