Rose Club: A DJ spinning Jay-Z at The Plaza? Yup, that’s right. Experience Old New York fabulously intertwined with new-New York at the recently opened Rose Club in The Plaza Hotel. Go now while this high-end lounge is still hush-hush (i.e., before Gossip Girl arrives), and you will no doubt spot models upon models (and the requisite older men who surround them), indulging in $19 cocktails at the expansive U-shaped bar. Want to sit down? Tables at Rose Club are bottle service-only. As for tourists, they are kept at a decidedly minimal level (perhaps scared off by the attractive—if intimidating—rope-keeper at the lounge’s entrance). With its 1am closing time on weekends and promotion by the Bloc Group, Rose Club is clearly meant as a first stop before hitting the likes of 1 OAK.
