Rosanjin:
If you sneer at tradition and throw ceremony to the wind, a meal at Rosanjin might be more of a struggle than a pleasure. Following in the traditional rituals of Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine, the $150 meal at Rosanjin is a series of predetermined, tiny dishes served in timed intervals with vegetables playing the lead role alongside sushi and sashimi style fish. Meat lovers had better head to Pizza Hut. But lovers of sake and soju will feel right at home in this slipper-sized room, which is shielded from the outside world by a red silk screen. The serene setting is ideal for a peaceful meal that you might want to have alone, as rarely a word is uttered among the diners at all seven tables the place holds.
Well....I am not big on tradition or ritual, but I didn't struggle, I thrived and became refreshed after their 2 hour Kaiseki course. It was the most delicious, luxurious, and beautiful Japanese dinner I've ever had.
