Rogue: It used to be that a pubby place with restaurant food, a plethora of wall-mounted TVs, and blaring pop music implied either the place’s owners or its clientele were more than a bit confused about what they’re doing. Now, in the age of hyper over-stimulation, places like this make slightly more sense. With its lofty ceilings, polished industrial aesthetic, and big metal sign, Rogue looks like Chelsea Market, but it’s filled with sports fans and gray-collar, working-class types rather than arts and crafts nuts. Half of the space is a cushioned wooden booth-filled area where couples and groups gather for American cuisine that’s served up by a friendly wait staff until about midnight...that's when the spot becomes all about the liquor until 4am from Wednesday through Saturday (they close around 2am the other days). The other half of Rogue offers a long bar that faces a wall of elevated TVs. But don't be deterred if you aren't a sports fan...this spot attracts a great group of singles. |
