Rodeo Bar: Who knew you didn’t have to go to Yankee Stadium to feel the crackle of peanut shells underfoot and drunk macho men’s warm beer-flavored breath? Rodeo Bar is more than a kitschy parody; it did honky-tonk trashy style in 1987 before it was officially cool. The bar may be a trailer, but the bull head- and saddle-adorned joint boasts a sizable menu of Pepto-necessitating Tex-Mex dishes, a dozen margarita varieties, and live bands playing Western tunes (country music groups: don’t give up on Manhattan yet). The beer is cheap, the peanuts are free, and the view from the picnic table-furnished mezzanine can be hilarious. Even though it doesn’t have a mechanical bull (we’re lobbying for one), y’all might just have yerself a good time anyway. |
