Rise @ the Ritz-Carlton: Proposing? Having a steamy affair? Or just bored with being jammed into a crowded room with deafening music? Head to the southern-most tip of Manhattan, through the Nordstrom-reminiscent Ritz-Carlton lobby and up to the 14th floor, where you’ll Rise above it all. A dimly lit room is staffed by incredibly warm (if slightly Stepford-esque) “guest service agents,” who usher visitors to intimate, window-side tables with cityscapes of Battery Park, the skyline of New Jersey, and the Statue of Liberty, her torch glowing in the moonlight. Fresh fruit-pureed mojitos, capirinhas, and margaritas make the sights even sweeter. Surprisingly, the best deal in this expensive lounge (sadly, the view comes with a price tag to match) is a $30 sangria. How good can it be? It’s a tumbler to share, offering three or four refills. Lean in and steal a kiss, or come alone to contemplate. |
