Rice: As we all remember from college, rice is the simple savior of the really hungry and broke. This restaurant is a different bowl of Rice altogether, but the idea is the same. The napkins look suspiciously like bathroom paper towels and the service is arrogantly lax, but the food’s dirt cheap. Eat in the claustrophobic dining room or grab grub to go from the takeout nook next door. An extensive tea selection (20) is available with eight exotic honey choices along with a meager selection of juices, coffees, beers, wine, and sake ($1.50-$7). Choke down requisite Asian appetizers like maki or dim sum ($5-7), grab one of the rice, noodle, or salad entrées—available in small and large sizes—and for a buck more, try rice with honey ($1). |
