Red Lion
If you enjoy cover bands and the people who love them, you’d be hard-pressed to have a horrible time at the Red Lion. For 25 years the Lion has provided fast service and all the music patrons can handle; original acts also play. Still, the place has earned a bad rap for featuring second-rate cover bands and playing host to drunken NYU coeds. Naysayers can drown their pretentiousness in a couple of bottles of Bud Light and ask one of the many singles to dance to “Living on a Prayer.” It’s a far cry from a lounge, and you may never hear any of the bands featured on MTV, but for a fun night of butchered versions of your favorite tunes (think American Idol), you could do worse than this Village mainstay.

Good Music, Good Times

The Red Lion has long been a favorite of mine, when I am in the mood for a few drinks and some good music to chill to. While it is true that the most famous bands may not play here, this is beside the point. Many lesser-known groups have the chance to show their stuff at this joint, allowing us to experience real talent that otherwise would not be heard. There are many extremely talented musicians that do not make it to MTV that are well worthy of our time (and money). A night at the Red Lion is very enjoyable. Bring some friends and prepare to have an awesome night out!

Cheers!
