Red Bench: The Police may have broken up, but Roxanne’s still flashing that red light down in SoHo. Follow the red hue down Sullivan Street to Red Bench, a bar that’s been open for as long as its recently graduated customers have been moved out of their parents’ houses (that’d be three years). These downtown newbies go hand in hand; young bar-goers will feel right at home in Red Bench’s closet-sized rooms, since it’s basically the same size as their apartment. Surprisingly, drink prices don’t match the age range of the crowd—young salaries will be stretched thin trying to afford a few cocktails here, so the three-for-two happy hour is highly recommended. |
