Push used to be a place where international students from Baruch would crowd in to smoke cigarettes and drink strong espresso. Now, they trickle in, jones for cigarettes, and drink espresso. This coffeehouse/restaurant/boutique bar has a disaffected, past-its-prime feel, but the beers are cheap, the coffee is powerful, and the vibe is mellow. It’s a decent stop for a low-key nightcap or an early evening pick-me-up. Try the Chunky Cappuccino (more creamy than chunky thanks to an enormous dollop of ice cream in every glass) or the house-special Puccini (imagine a potent frappuccino cocktail) as you squint at your date in the dim, rust-colored light and debate the barista’s taste in electronica.
