Purple: The color purple might connote royalty, but Purple is for anything but. Co-owners Theo Chauveau and Eric Lozano, the brains behind hotspots Cielo, Chaos, and Spy Bar, wanted a downtown place for hip New Yorkers who had become disillusioned by the trendy Meatpacking bar scene. (Who isn’t?) One can almost envision a Sienna Miller-esque wannabe draped artfully on the purple banquet, puffing her Galois (banned, by the way) under the flashing lilac disco lights and whining about gentrification. Don’t throw away your clubbing card quite yet, jaded New Yorkers–you just might find Purple to be your amethyst in the rough. This violet wonderland should make you very curious indeed. |
