Public House: Just around the corner from frat favorite, McFadden's, this Philly/Denver transplant interprets the classic "local saloon" minus all the clichés; well, at least some of them. A gigantic (and authentic) 45-star flag hangs over the main bar, which dates back to July 4, 1896 when Utah officially entered the Union. Good thing the place is huge, because the crowd is at least six deep at the bar during that crucial 5-7 post workday crush. Still, you could hold a riot in the center of the room and no one would notice. The Public House Lemonade (mango vodka, lemonade, triple sec, Sprite) is a perfect summer cocktail, and the beer selection is broad, but a bit lackluster. Then again, who cares? Anything tastes good when it means you’re finally out of the office! |
