Proseccheria: Tucked in the back corner of Pasticcio, an “artisan” Italian restaurant, this wine bar tries—but fails—to have its own shelf-life independent of the whole. You can’t enter the bar without walking through the restaurant, and the scarcity of seats isn’t enough to make it feel like an actual bar. Proseccheria’s pleasant-but-drab atmosphere may be irrelevant to real (or wannabe) wine connoisseurs, who can choose from a multitude of vino options, and the soft lighting is semi-romantic, but since this wine bar doesn’t really function separately from the restaurant, it has a perpetually unfinished feeling that prevents total relaxation and silly drunken behavior. Besides, it’s tough to pronounce oenology correctly when you’ve slung back a few too many merlots. |
