Professor Thom's:
The liquor-soaked spirit of Professor Jerry Thomas--the “Godfather of Bartending"--lives on at this cheery, beery hardwood-floor hangout co-owned by four, yup, bartenders. Sidle up to the whopping 41-foot bar and knock back imported tipples like Belgian Delirium Tremons and potent Blackthorn Cider, plus pub grub done right, from deep-fried mac and cheese and fat burgers to nachos served on a pizza platter. This is also Red Sox territory--with no less than nine blaring TV sets. The vintage upstairs lounge, with original 1830s ceiling moldings, is a whole different scene--and one that the dapper bearded Professor Thom would be proud of. (Savvy Sox guys will note the advantage to this arrangement--woo your date in the lounge and sneak downstairs to check out the score.) If Papi and the boys aren't playing, entertain yourself with Monday night trivia and Wednesday Bingo.
