Pó: Another restaurant on Smith Street? Hell, yes. Bitches, Manhattan ain't the only borough getting good play. Sometimes you just gotta go with what you know, and in the case of Pó’s location in Carroll Gardens, success comes with keeping it simple. Adopting the same aesthetic as its Greenwich Village predecessor in the form of the green exterior and French windows, inside, Chef Lee McGrath stays true to form with a rustic Italian menu that’s further heightened by the wine list of 50+ Italian bottles. This is the spot for romantic dates...hint hint. Veal sweetbreads and porcini crusted cod keep things fancy, as does a $50 tasting menu (one salad, two pastas, one entree, one cheese course, one dessert), but word on the street is the meatballs are where it’s at. Better than yo momma made. Sure, if you're single you may feel left out as dining here is mostly among couples or stroller-clad families, but keep sipping that Bellini and you'll feel fine. Batali would be so proud. |
