TEMPORARILY CLOSED: Planet Thailand pulls off classy and junkyard chic in a warehouse-like Williamsburg space, and it does it with good Thai food and fairly priced drinks, too. At the center of the cavernous bar/restaurant hangs a rowboat-turned-water-fountain. There’s no wish-making coin-throwing, but the white noise of the water flow soothes the aural palette from bar to restaurant over the ambient and international tunes that play throughout. The front half is dedicated to a bar with green and yellow beer bottles “sculpted” into three-dimensional starbursts behind it and inlayed as flowers on the lower front of the bar itself. Even the bar-stools adopt the trash-as-art theme with velvet covering metal poles and scraps. Hot sake at the bar makes a fine companion, but if you prefer a date, take ’em further inside for hipster-friendly vegetarian pad Thai or the more carnivorous offerings of the hibachi grill.
