Pink Elephant: Unlike its former Meatpacking District locale where great parties overcame a limited space, this rosy pachyderm brings the whole show. Occupying what was the VIP section of Crobar, this dance lounge did it right. A long, dramatic entrance, complete with subtle scent machines, makes visitors feel as though they’re going somewhere special. Inside, a long bar area proves that to be the case. Behind that is a sunken lounge/club space where platforms on the back of banquettes allow dancing fools with a slight exhibitionist streak to strut their stuff without moving for waiters or being groped by guidos. It’s easy to argue that there are too many clubs on West 27th Street, but this shouldn’t be the one to go. |
