Paul's Palace
In some countries, the cow is sacred. In America, however, we chop it up, mash it into a burger, slap it on the grill, and hot damn, that’s some holy tasting beef. That said, Paul’s Palace does it the best in the East Village. The bare-bones burger is $4.05, but add a slice of cheese for a few cents more. Or set your sights on the Eastsider ($9.10), with bacon, cheese, ham, mushrooms, tomatoes and onions. Beef ain’t all they do, however. Everyone should try the sweet potato fries ($3.10) and shakes ($2.75). There's nothing on tap, but 14 bottled beers are available to quench your thirst. Most omelettes range around four bucks, with the Village Omelette—ham, onions and peppers—costing $4.75. Unlike other burger joints, this is where the experience is bovine, er, divine.
