Parlor Steakhouse: Husband-and-wife team Michael Glick and Susy Salvo Glick (BB&R) behind this sleek steakhouse sure know a thing or two about pairing. They've got a bar area large enough to accommodate the anticipated Upper East Side singles demand, as well as a dining room that gives carnivores the style and substance they crave. The spacious bar area wraps around to a glass-enclosed cafe, so there's plenty of room for drink traffic to migrate into table territory. You could say it brings a much needed addition to the "meet-deprived" Upper East Side. Fortunately, the $14 cocktails by mixologists Gardner Dunn and Ben Clemons (Elizabeth, Los Dados) are just as impressive as the 10-oz. filet mignon ($42) by chef Lucas Billheimer (Lure Fish Bar). Try your luck with an Ornery Gentleman (Maker's Mark, lemon, honey, and muddled strawberries) or a Lady Killer (prosecco, Hendrick's gin, fresh peach, sugar, lemon, and Campari). Seafood from an ice-filled raw bar rounds out the temptations. All in all, it's just a question of time before Parlor turns into the "prime" location on the U.E.S. |
