Paris Cafe
You don’t need an excuse to escape the fishy smells that abound along the South Street Seaport, but olfactory relief is one of many reasons to duck into Paris Café. This historic retreat was built in 1873 and has stood as a landmark for generations of fishermen, immigrants, tourists, and locals. The rich interior features an impressively sculpted old bar and cozy dining room where standard bar fare of a slightly French variety is washed down with many a well-poured Guinness. A healthy rotation of regulars keeps this handsome old-timer feeling personal, but Paris Café often succumbs to a crushing invasion of South Street tourists. (Hey—it beats the Germans!) Dinner here can be a bit pricey, but as your nose will tell you, the fish is fresh.

Kate, behind the bar, is one of the best and nicest bartenders in the city.

Paris Cafe

Food and service were both excellent.
Menu is surprisingly varied and prices are very reasonable.
