Paradou: The Meatpacking District has long been regarded as a nightclub neighborhood, but now that West 27th Street is the new Clubland, it’s becoming clear that this upper corner of the West Village is more about eating and lounging. Tiny and charming Paradou combines those things as well as anyone. Looking like something you might stumble across while cycling the French countryside, Paradou serves consistently serviceable traditional French fare to a trendy clientele ranging from international jetsetters to Long Island contractors. The front space’s great for snacking on wine and cheese with that special someone. The heated backyard is better suited for groups who need elbow room when digging into their full-on entrées. It’s easy to describe this place as “cute,” but “mignon” is more appropriate. |
