But Paddy Maguire’s Ale House achieves a happy medium for a chill crowd; it pairs back billiards with $4 20-oz. beer (Brooklyn Lager, Beck’s, or Miller Lite). Guinness and whiskey abound at this Irish pub, too, but debauchery is more likely poorly aimed darts, scratched cue balls, unfortunate jukebox selections, and compulsive Photo Hunt play than amateur sloppiness. Even the décor is easy to swallow: Branches, à la swanky Gramercy lounges, fuse well with white Christmas lights, à la nearby college dorms. |
