Pacha
Well, the city got its West Side stadium after all. But instead of a family-friendly sanctuary, the former Sound Factory nightclub/pharmaceutical superstore is now Pacha—the first-ever North American offering from a nightlife franchise boasting 25 clubs worldwide. These four floors and 30,000 square feet could double as a parking garage for the USS Intrepid right across the street. The bottom floor is a Planet Hollywood-type gift shop. The top floor, Pachita, is a VIP room where club-administered “passports” are required for entry. The two floors in between are chaos. Dancers in a pair of glass-enclosed showers share the second floor with “flair” bartenders. They overlook a main-level dance floor where co-owner Erick Morillo, who spent 13 summers DJing in Ibiza’s famous Pacha, mixes things up. The 2,700-person-plus capacity means almost everyone with $30 gets in—like it or not.

had fun!

great place, unlike the others who obviously dont like to mingle in crowded places "like sardines" as they said, i found the place cool and trendy, maybe because i have european taste? but dancefloor was enormous crisp beats spun by great dj's hot girls, that's all i look for...

Horrible Experience!

I went to Pacha with a friend after traveling 3.5 hours to get there on Friday night 11-9-07.

Armin Van Buuren was spinning at the club on this night. After reading up on the club and visiting their website, I thought there would be plenty of room to move around, the sound and light system was to be the best.

Unfortunately, upon getting to the club, the line was down the street and around the corner. It was raining so I decided to pay somebody to let us cut the line, otherwise we would have never gotten in.

Once inside the club, I realized it would not be the night I expected.

I finally made it across the main floor as the place was packed like sardines (it took about 20 minutes) then I went downstairs to the smelly basement to check my coat and waited in line once again for about 35 minutes, went to the bathroom (too small for a club this size) and waited 25 minutes to finally use it.

I then went back upstairs the the second level and tried to make it throught the crowd and order a drink (walking throught the crowd took another 20 minutes..getting a bartender to serve me took about 15 minutes. Two hours later, I have a drink and I make my way to the balcony to see the main dance floor. It is so packed in this club that you litterally walk sideways getting drinks all over you, and peoples sweat all over your arms and face. I had about a sip left in my cup by the time I made it there, the rest was all over my shirt and the floor.

Looking down on the dance floor everyone is just packed in shoulder to shoulder and stomache's to others backs, staring at the DJ the entire night! Is the DJ some kind of god that requires worshiping? I never saw this in a "dance" club in all my life.. nobody was dancing.. why? I think mostly because of the greed of the club owners! They packed the place so full that if there was a fire, without question.. hundreds would be dead.

Not only is it irresponsible to fill a club beyond capacity, it takes away from any possible good experience and makes really bad business sense.

Drinks cost $10.00 each, tickets where 40$ , coat check 4.00 each, water $5.00 for a small bottle. A round of water? $20.00 !!!

The sound system had to be the worse I have ever experienced. It was muddy, the highs where terrible and reached static levels.. at one point I had to cover my ears because I felt the highs where so distorted my ears where going to bleed! This is supposed to be entertaining?

Even the operation of the sound system was irresponsible!

The sound and lighting system is afar cry from the quality of sound experienced at Crobar or Twilo in its day with the Phazon sound system.. true quality when the customer counts! This sound system must have been designed by heavy metal artists!

I left the club with a headache and bruising from constantly being pushed around like cattle from the over crowding..shirt drenched with the hundred or so dollars I spent on liquor and water.. my ears rang for two days... what a shitty experience.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLUB to anyone that wants to have a good time.

The DJ acted like we where at a rock concert entertaining the crowd with gestures as if he was on a cross.. if I only had a match!

It was horrible.. the music sucked and they kept using the lasers through the whole night making it part of the back drop... leading to no build up or excitement.

The guy operating the lights couldnt even match the music thats how bad and unpredictable it was. He ran the laser as if we where at an outdoor rave.

I for one, will NEVER return to this club and will NEVER go to see Armin Ban Buuren again.. he totally sucks and so does this club.

Listening to his music on Sirius, one would never imagine that live he would be so horrible.

This place is more like security at an airport where you have to arrive 3 hours before you actually want to join the "party".

If you want to feel like a sardine in a can and want to have bleeding ears and feel like a ping pong bouncing off of everyone else as you try to move around.. this place is for you.. and if you want a 10 dollar drink in a tiny plastic cup... go to Pacha! what a joke!!

P.S. Make sure you go to get your coat at least 30-40 minutes before you are actually ready to leave... It's a constant game of waiting in line at this club.
