Otto’s Shrunken Head: A Hawaiian scene confronts you as you step into Otto’s Shrunken Head: a bar created out of bamboo sticks, colored blowfish lamps, and patterned walls full of Aloha flowers and pin-up girls. When you order a Pang’s Punch (the house special—basically, a glow-in-the-dark radioactive rum punch), you’ll receive a beverage bonanza. Drinks are garnished with fruit, plastic monkeys, gold streamers, and (of course) paper umbrellas. Beyond the moans of the soft-core porn blaring from the TVs, you’ll hear bands playing in the tiki back room. Performers vary from jazz trios to disenchanted punk groups. Sunday nights, there are $3 margaritas and Bloody Marys from 4pm–8pm. Why not say “aloha” to that and the cozy Hawaiian feel of Otto’s? |
