Ortine: This Brooklyn café offers up a good vision of what BK might be like if it was on a more rural, relaxed vibe. The pastries, homemade pizzas, teas and coffee, paired with shabby-chic interiors helps that. As does the selection of local brews on tap, along with the outdoor seating, and its hippy-friendly clientele. Ortine is a great daytime destination and the 1970s vibe of a cluttered, family den seems to work better with sunshine. It would be a good choice for causal dates for folks looking more to connect than to impress. In other words the place has a sense of genuineness that’s hard to come by these days.
