Opus 22: CLOSED.
Opus 22 aims to be the CBGB’s of turntabling, but rather than junkies in dirty jeans, they draw a crowd that tries on everything in the closet, plucks their eyebrows, then comes out to dance. The atmosphere here is friendly, thanks largely to the hands-on proprietors. Sunday through Tuesday from 5pm-10pm is open mic night, but we’re not talkin’ ’bout tourists doing show tunes—this open mic is for DJs. Professional mix masters spin everything from trance to house and it’s almost always cover-free. Though the shows generally start at 10pm, Opus 22 opens its doors at 5pm and the after-work crowd is welcome to come by for cheese, fruit, and seafood appetizers. |
