Opia: While they tout themselves as being French at Opia, you’ve got to wonder why. French is certainly not the accent du jour on the folks that work here, and with a menu offering items like “Moules Frites, aka Marniere-Style,” you’ve gotta wonder if they’ve ever even seen France on the map. Other telltale “French” items on the menu include…beef “carapaccio” (their spelling) and a chicken club sandwich? Nevertheless, this sprawling space, once a humble coffee shop, is attractive, and features a second-floor patio for that heavy-duty Gauloises-addicted crowd of regulars. Mixed cocktails average about $10 each, there are about 14 wines by the glass, half of which are French. A votre sante. |
