One Little West 12: It doesn’t get any more “Meatpacking District” than this. Very high on design, One’s modern-medieval, bi-level confines are heavy on iron bars, exposed brick, and ornate candles. With a velvet rope policy, bar area teeming with B&Ts and Upper East Siders, oddly low-slung seating, and a very noisy DJ, it’s hard to tell how serious these guys are about being a restaurant. Relatively pricey New American cuisine of mini-burgers and share plates further beg the question. There’s a private party room downstairs, which looks like it might have been King Arthur’s banquet room. This space is often rented for corporate parties whose crowds usually end up in the common area as soon as the free drinks stop flowing. |
