O’Reilly’s Townhouse Restaurant & Tavern: This is not the type of place that gets written up for sweeping architectural style, decadent ambiance, impeccable service, or a super-hip menu. In fact, you probably won’t get lucky at O’Reilly’s either, unless you count buybacks, or the ability to pass time here comfortably before a game or concert at Madison Square Garden. O’Reilly’s follows the standard pub mentality of good food, good drink, good prices, and good people. It’s the kind of place where you can knock back a few pints during happy hour and be treated like a regular in an irregular world, an unfortunately dying trend that O’Reilly’s has kept alive since it opened in 1975. It’s not just Irish eyes that smile in O’Reilly’s (at least not after a few pints). |
