O'Neal's: Rows of white lights hang like candles from the ceiling of this spacious and long established, though recently renovated, restaurant around the corner from Lincoln Center. The vibe feels like a cross between grown-up Irish pub and American steakhouse, although fish, poultry, and the like are available if red meat’s not your bag. The drawback to the perceived air of fancy-shmancyness is, of course, increased prices, but the lunch and brunch menus offer more bang for your buck. There’s not much of a bar scene here, but it’s a decent upscale place to pop into when shopping or pursuing your New Year’s resolution of avoiding your usual beer-pong-heavy hangouts. |
