O'Hara's: The gaudy yellow and green neon sign that acts as a beacon for O’Hara’s is pretty indicative of the bar’s innards. Awkward mirrors disorient, and an intrusive A/C unit ominously looms from the center of the ceiling, threatening the imbibers who pass beneath. The bar is large, divided into a few compartments including an upstairs area for diners to indulge in bland and obvious choices. The seating seems to have been borrowed from a mismatched lunch-counter spot, and the seats are often occupied by out-of-towners who stumble upon the bar after shooting rolls of film on the tragic footprint to the north. The ambiance goads bartenders to mistreat customers. (It is, perhaps, charming to have your change slammed on the bar, no?) |
