Nublu: Sandwiched between decrepit buildings on Avenue C, Nublu is Alphabet City’s pseudo-secret lounge. Just look for the painted blue front and bright yellow duck illustrations outside. As you pass its velvet curtains, you’ll discover a house of international beauties, outstanding global beats, and yummy caipirinhas (a specialty Brazilian drink that consists of lime, sugar, and cachaça). Nublu is known for its late-night scene, but arrive before 10:30pm to take advantage of the “Secret Garden”-like porch. The owner, Ilhan Ersahin, also operates a record label, and the lounge’s live acts, such as the sensual Brazilian Girls, take the party to another level. When you’re yearning for some diversity and dancing, now you know where to go—past those ducks and into Nublu. |
