Nexus: This is the downstairs lounge of the Irish bar One & One, named for the “Seinfeld” episode where Kramer is lost in the East Village and finds himself at the corner of First and First, the “nexus” of the universe. Here DJs spin danceable beats for a sweaty crowd chugging down Irish coffees, and yes, we know that’s a slightly dangerous combination. This smallish lounge has a swankier vibe than One & One; even the bar itself is sleek and dark. Drunken girls confuse the decorations for stripper poles at times, but the handsome NYU frat boy crowd doesn’t seem to mind. Why should they? Apparently the Nexus of universe is filled with hangovers and a high hook-up factor. |
