Naima: When this modern Italian wine bar and restaurant opened at the beginning of the W. 27th Street club ex-plosion, it seemed like a good spot to pre-game before heading next door to Bungalow 8. However, location isn’t “everything” after all. The wood-lined room of intricate wine shelves is nice-looking and the staff couldn’t be much more polite, but they’re far from quick. Unfortunately, the rather inventive and stronger parts of the menu consist of pastas and seafood that are not always up to par with this A-list neighborhood’s expectations. Standard meat dishes are inconsistent too, ranging from not bad to not great. These Campania-inspired plates are certainly serviceable for those in the area and very hungry, but if you’re up for a big night out at Marquee, starting here may seem anticlimactic. |
