Down the stairs from the sparse main lobby, the intimate, cavernous lounge is padded with mirrors and red velvet banquette cushions. In an area known for its cookie-cutter watering holes, the gothic bohemian style of Morgan’s is perfect for an impressive date or any excuse to feel sexy and meathead-free. If only the bar would maintain its integrity with its music selection. With pounding, ear-numbing international techno—the kind of music designed for 1,000-person-capacity nightclubs in Ibiza—the cozy and sensual cocktail lounge becomes less appealing by the second. Beer drinkers are out of luck at a bar that only pushes wine and high-end cocktails, but the pricey drinks do pack a smooth punch.
