Moda: Midtown is the Mecca of hotel bars and they all seem to have the same contemporary interior designer who specializes in black tables, black leather, and frosted lighting. Moda varies little from this script—except for the glass wall that separates the large room (cramping the bar scene a bit) and, what really makes this spot worthwhile, the outdoor “terrace” (also known as the nicely designed spacious corridor between buildings). Though the interior may feel cool, the appetizer menu is zesty Southern Italian whose prices may seem a bit hot to handle. Complimentary tastings are offered twice a month, on Tuesdays and Fridays, for wine or cocktails. Happy hour may seem a bit early at 3:30pm-6:30pm, but hey, some days you just gotta get out of the office. |
