MObar (@ the Mandarin Oriental): Before you get lost looking for MObar, note that it’s on the 35th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, which is attached to the Time Warner Center. When on the 35th floor, remember that it’s the bar in the corner all the way to the right, not to be confused with the other two top-shelf lounges on the same floor. Once you’ve crossed MObar’s threshold, don’t be surprised if you ask yourself, “What’s the fuss all about?” Sure, “Page Six” might have just reported that Brad Pitt was here while in town, but that’s because he’s got the disposable income to pay almost $20 for drinks and hang in this cramped, blandly elegant cave with one of the worst views a 35th floor has ever had. That’s not to say the cocktails aren’t tasty, but at these prices they should come with a key to one of the hotel’s fancy rooms. |
